पश्चिम बंगालच्‍या पानागढ येथील आर्मी बेस कॅम्पमध्‍ये गुरूवारी पहाटेच्‍या सुमारास भीषण आग लागली आहे. आगीवर नियंत्रण मिळविण्‍यात यश आले असले तरीही या आगीत 200 टन शस्‍त्रास्‍त्रे आणि स्फोटके जळून नष्‍ट झाली आहेत. आगीचे कारणे अद्याप समजू शकलेले नाही.

या आगीत कुठलीही जीवित हानी झालेली नसून घटनेनंतर वरिष्‍ठ अधिकारी या ठिकाणी दाखल झाले असून तपास सुरू आहे.

दोन-तीन दिवसांपूर्वी प.बंगालची राजधानी कोलकातामध्‍ये स्टीफन बिल्डिंगमध्‍ये लागलेल्या आगीत 26 जणांचा मृत्यू झाला होता.


 
Major fire at key Army ammunition depot in WB

An ammunition depot located at an Army base in Panagarh in Burdwan district of West Bengal caught fire early Friday. Huge blasts were heard at the Army base from 1 am for two hours.

Panagarh, about 120 km to the north of Kolkata, is one of Army’s biggest ammunition depots in the east. Air force also has a base at the same location.

"The fire broke out in shed number 16 (store house) of the depot at 1.30 am. Within five minutes, the entire fire fighting machinery of the Army was activated to battle the blaze," Wing Commander M Upasani of Eastern Command said.
