उष्‍माघाताने सर्वाधिक लोकांना जीव गमवावा लागलेल्‍या गुजरातवर आता सागरी चक्रीवादळाची भीती निर्माण झाली असून अरबी समुद्रात निर्माण झालेल्‍या डीपडिप्रेशनचे रूपांतर चक्रीवादळात झाल्‍याने राज्यात गुरू व शुक्रवार दरम्‍यान किनारपट्टीच्‍या भागांना मोठ्या वादळाचा सामना करावा लागणार आहे. वादळाच्‍या पार्श्‍वभूमीवर किनारपट्टीवरील शहरांमध्‍ये हायअलर्ट जाहीर करण्‍यात आला असून वादळाचा सर्वाधिक फटका पोरबंदर व नलिया भागाला बसणार आहे.

तर सौराष्ट्रातील जूनागढ़ व जामनगर जिल्‍ह्यांनाही वादळाचा तडाखा बसण्‍याची शक्यता आहे. अरबी समुद्रात 15.56 अक्षांश व 63.5 पूर्व रेखांशावर गुजरातच्‍या किनारपट्टीपासून सुमारे 1050 किलोमीटर समुद्रात डीप-डिप्रेशन निर्माण झाले आहे. हे वादळ गुरूवारी व शुक्रवारी किनारपट्टीला धडकण्‍याची शक्यता आहे.

Tropical cyclone 'Phet' in the Arabian sea has intensified further into a severe cyclonic storm, moved northwestward, and lay centred 1,000 km southwest of Naliya in Kutch district of Gujarat even as some parts of the state received rainfall.

The Indian Meteorological Department today said "the current environmental condition and Numerical Weather Prediction models suggest the system would intensify further into a very severe cyclonic storm and move slowly in a north-northwesterly direction for the next 24 hours and then re-curve northeastwards towards Gujarat and adjoining Pakistan coast".

IMD officials said that under the influence of 'Phet' widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls would commence over coastal areas of Gujarat from June 4, and increase thereafter.

Meanwhile, rainfall was recorded in most parts of Amreli, Dharmpur in Valsad and some parts in coastal region of Jamnagar this morning. Also, sporadic rains were registered in Palitana, Alang, and Umrada regions of Bhavnagar district.

Sky in the coastal towns of the state was overcast and the temperature had come down considerably.
